This Banana Cream Matcha Latte is a smooth, creamy, and naturally sweetened beverage combining ripe banana, monk fruit sweetener, coconut milk, and whisked matcha powder. Perfect for a nutritious and delicious morning drink, it can be enjoyed hot or iced with a delicate balance of flavors inspired by both American and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients

Matcha Mixture

  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 3 tbsps hot water
  • ½ tsp monk fruit sweetener (raw organic monkfruit or honey, to taste)

Latte Base

  • ½ medium ripe banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup coconut milk (full-fat or lite)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

For Serving

  • Ice (optional, for iced version)
  • Extra matcha powder or banana slice for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Matcha Mixture: Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove lumps. Add the monk fruit sweetener and hot water, then whisk briskly until the mixture is frothy and the sweetener is fully dissolved.
  2. Blend Latte Base: In a blender, combine the banana, coconut milk, and vanilla extract. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no chunks remaining.
  3. For Hot Latte: Warm the blended banana-coconut milk mixture gently on the stovetop or in the microwave until heated through without boiling. Stir the sweetened matcha mixture into the warmed base evenly.
  4. For Iced Latte: Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the blended banana-coconut milk mixture over the ice. Slowly top with the sweetened matcha mixture to create a layered effect.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Optionally dust with additional matcha powder or garnish with a banana slice for a café-style presentation. Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh flavors.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for natural sweetness and creaminess.
  • Adjust the monk fruit or honey amount according to your preferred sweetness.
  • Full-fat coconut milk gives a richer texture, while lite versions lower the calorie count.
  • For an iced latte, pour matcha slowly over the banana-coconut base to keep layers distinct.
  • Matcha powder should be sifted to avoid clumps for a smoother drink.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled for more servings.
