This Cheesy Chicken Crescent Roll Bake is a comforting, easy-to-make casserole combining tender shredded chicken, melted mozzarella, and creamy chicken soup all wrapped inside flaky crescent rolls. Baked to golden perfection with a savory herb seasoning, this dish makes a delicious family-friendly meal ready in under an hour.

Ingredients

Chicken Mixture

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless cooked and shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for filling)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp oregano

Other

  • 2 packages crescent rolls (8 count packages)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for sauce)
  • 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup
  • 10.5 oz milk (use soup can to measure)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chicken Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the cooked and shredded chicken with 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle garlic powder and oregano on top, then mix thoroughly to ensure the chicken is evenly coated with the seasoning and cheese.
  2. Stuff Crescent Rolls: Unroll each crescent roll dough sheet. Spoon about 1/3 cup of the chicken mixture onto the wide end of each crescent roll. Carefully roll the dough up, enclosing the filling inside, and repeat with all rolls until the mixture is fully used.
  3. Arrange in Baking Pan: Place all the stuffed crescent rolls seam-side down in a 9x13-inch baking pan, arranging them so they fit snugly but not overcrowded.
  4. Make Creamy Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat on the stovetop, combine the remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, cream of chicken soup, and milk. Stir continuously until the cheese is melted and the mixture is warmed through and smooth.
  5. Pour Sauce Over Rolls: Evenly pour the warm creamy cheese mixture over the crescent rolls in the baking pan, making sure to coat each roll thoroughly.
  6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the baking pan in the oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. The crescent rolls should be warm, flaky, and filled with a cheesy chicken center. Enjoy this hearty dish as a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • You can use rotisserie chicken for a quick shortcut.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or paprika to the chicken mixture.
  • Make sure the crescent rolls are sealed well to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  • This recipe can be made ahead and baked later; just cover and refrigerate before baking.
  • Use low-fat mozzarella and soup options if you prefer a lighter version.
