Ingredients

Peanut Butter Mixture

  • 1 cup (283g) creamy peanut butter
  • 6 tablespoons (84g) butter
  • 2 ¾ cups (311g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 package (10 ounces) chocolate melting wafers (such as Ghirardelli or Candiquik)

Instructions

  1. Cream the Peanut Butter and Butter: In a mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to cream together the peanut butter and butter until smooth and well combined.
  2. Add Powdered Sugar and Vanilla: Gradually add the powdered sugar to the peanut butter mixture, mixing continuously until fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract for added flavor.
  3. Prepare Cookie Sheet: Line a large cookie sheet with wax paper or parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  4. Form Peanut Butter Balls: Use a spoon or small scoop to form 1-inch balls from the peanut butter mixture. Roll each between your palms to make smooth balls and place them evenly spaced on the lined cookie sheet.
  5. Chill the Peanut Butter Balls: Place the peanut butter balls in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to firm up before dipping.
  6. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate wafers by heating for 30 seconds, stirring, then continuing to heat in 10-second intervals stirring each time until completely melted and smooth. Follow package instructions if necessary.
  7. Dip the Peanut Butter Balls: Remove the chilled peanut butter balls from the fridge. Using a toothpick, dip each ball into the melted chocolate to coat evenly. Place the coated balls back onto the lined cookie sheet.
  8. Let the Coating Harden: Allow the chocolate coating to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving.
  9. Store: Store the finished peanut butter balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • For a firmer texture, chill the peanut butter balls longer before dipping.
  • You can substitute the chocolate melting wafers with semi-sweet chocolate chips if preferred.
  • Ensure the chocolate is fully melted but not overheated to avoid seizing.
  • Use parchment paper for easier cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  • These treats are perfect for freezing if you want to keep them longer.
