Ingredients

Shrimp and Seasonings

  • 400 g shrimp, washed and peeled
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika

Pasta

  • 300 g fettuccine pasta

Sauce

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cube vegetable or chicken stock
  • ½ cup water
  • ⅓ cup parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp: Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and paprika evenly over the shrimp, ensuring they are well coated. Set the shrimp aside to marinate briefly.
  2. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  3. Sauté the aromatics: In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and butter. Once the butter has melted, add the finely chopped onion and cook for about one minute until it becomes translucent, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  4. Add garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant, about 30 seconds to one minute.
  5. Prepare the cream sauce: Pour in the heavy cream, water, and crumble in the stock cube. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil to dissolve the stock and blend flavors.
  6. Add cheese and shrimp: Stir in the shredded parmesan cheese. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet, lower the heat, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the shrimp are fully cooked and opaque.
  7. Combine pasta and sauce: Turn off the heat, add the drained pasta to the skillet, and toss the pasta gently with the creamy shrimp sauce to coat everything evenly.
  8. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle the finely chopped parsley over the dish for a fresh burst of flavor and color. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your creamy garlic butter shrimp pasta.

Notes

  • Use fresh heavy cream for a richer, silkier sauce.
  • Grate your own parmesan cheese from a block for better flavor and texture.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp to avoid rubbery texture; they cook quickly in the creamy sauce.
  • You can substitute fettuccine with other pasta types like linguine or spaghetti according to your preference.
