A fresh and creamy tuna salad made with canned tuna, mayonnaise, vibrant red bell pepper, and zesty lemon juice, perfect as a quick and tasty lunch or snack option.

Ingredients

Salad

  • 2 cans tuna in oil (drained very well)
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (add more to taste)
  • 1-2 tbsp finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper (or any other color)
  • 1-2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley or dill
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Flake the tuna: Drain the tuna thoroughly, then place it in a large bowl and use a fork to break it up into small flakes for an even texture.
  2. Add the good stuff: Add the chopped red bell pepper, finely chopped onion, chopped parsley or dill, a squeeze of lemon juice, black pepper, and mayonnaise to the bowl with tuna.
  3. Mix it up: Stir all the ingredients together thoroughly until the mixture is creamy and evenly combined.
  4. Taste + tweak: Taste the tuna salad and adjust the seasoning as desired by adding more lemon juice, black pepper, or fresh herbs to enhance the flavor.
  5. Serve or chill: Serve the tuna salad immediately or let it chill in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and improve.

Notes

  • Drain the tuna very well to avoid a watery salad.
  • You can substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • Add celery or cucumber for extra crunch if desired.
  • Use fresh herbs like dill or parsley to brighten the flavors.
  • Chilling the salad before serving enhances the flavor.
