A fresh and vibrant Waldorf Salad featuring crisp apples, juicy grapes, crunchy celery, and toasted pecans all tossed in a creamy Greek yogurt and mayonnaise dressing with a hint of honey and lemon juice. Perfect as a light lunch or a side dish, this classic salad is quick to prepare and delightfully flavorful.

Ingredients

Dressing

  • 3 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey (can use pure maple syrup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Salad

  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 1 cup halved red grapes
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup toasted pecans, roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley
  • Boston lettuce, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, honey, and kosher salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Combine Salad Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the diced apples, halved red grapes, diced celery, toasted and chopped pecans, and finely chopped parsley. Gently toss to distribute the ingredients evenly.
  3. Toss with Dressing: Pour the prepared dressing over the salad ingredients and stir gently but thoroughly until everything is evenly coated with the creamy dressing.
  4. Serve: Serve the Waldorf Salad plain or spooned into Boston lettuce leaves for a fresh presentation. Enjoy immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use crisp apples like Granny Smith or Fuji for the best texture and flavor contrast.
  • To keep apples from browning, toss them in a little lemon juice before adding to the salad.
  • Feel free to substitute raw walnuts or almonds for the pecans if preferred.
  • For a vegan variation, substitute mayonnaise with vegan mayo and honey with maple syrup or agave nectar.
  • This salad is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to one day.
