This Honey Garlic Ground Turkey recipe is a quick and flavorful dish perfect for a weeknight dinner. Ground turkey is cooked to tender perfection and coated in a savory-sweet honey garlic sauce with a hint of spice from red pepper flakes. Finished with fresh green onions, it can be served over rice, noodles, or in lettuce cups for a delicious and healthy meal.

Ingredients

Turkey Mixture

  • 1 lb ground turkey (lean or extra-lean)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (canola or avocado)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (reserve some for garnish)

Sauce

  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Turkey: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the neutral oil and then the ground turkey. Break the turkey into crumbles using a spatula as it cooks. Cook for about 6 to 7 minutes until the meat is browned and no longer pink.
  2. Add Garlic: Reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the skillet. Stir constantly and cook for 1 minute to release the garlic’s aroma without burning it.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together the honey, low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and optional red pepper flakes until well combined.
  4. Combine Sauce and Turkey: Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked turkey in the skillet. Stir well to coat all the meat evenly. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Add Green Onions: Stir in the sliced green onions, reserving some for garnish. Mix thoroughly and then remove the skillet from the heat.
  6. Serve: Serve the honey garlic ground turkey over rice, noodles, or inside lettuce cups. Garnish with the reserved green onions and sesame seeds if desired for added texture and flavor.

  • Can be served in lettuce cups for a low-carb option.
  • For extra crunch, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds as garnish.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
