This Sloppy Joe Biscuit Casserole is a delicious, comforting meal combining the classic sloppy joe flavors with fluffy, golden-baked biscuits. It’s a one-pan bake that’s perfect for family dinners, featuring seasoned ground beef mixed with ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and spices, all tossed with biscuit pieces and topped with melted cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Other Ingredients

  • 12 oz biscuits (cut into quarters)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is no longer pink, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain off any excess fat to keep the dish from being greasy.
  3. Add Seasonings: Stir in ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt into the skillet with cooked beef.
  4. Simmer Mixture: Allow the meat and sauce mixture to simmer gently for about 5 minutes so the flavors meld and thicken slightly.
  5. Remove from Heat: Take the skillet off the heat source once the mixture is ready.
  6. Combine with Biscuits: Transfer the meat mixture into a medium bowl. Add the quartered biscuits and toss everything together thoroughly so the biscuits are evenly coated.
  7. Arrange in Pan: Pour the combined biscuit and meat mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
  8. Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the mixture in the pan.
  9. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 28 to 30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the cheese has melted completely.
  10. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve hot for a hearty and satisfying meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef if preferred.
  • Use refrigerated biscuit dough for convenience.
  • Adjust the spice levels by modifying mustard or adding chili powder for a kick.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
  • For extra cheesiness, add more cheddar on top or mix some into the biscuit and meat mixture before baking.
