Perfectly chilled to hold their shape, these roll ups are easy to prepare and packed with flavor and nutrition.

Ingredients

Wrap and Filling

  • 2 10 inch whole grain tortillas (150g)
  • ¼ cup cream cheese, softened (70g)
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ⅛ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (60g)
  • 2 medium carrots, grated (115g)
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt (40g)

Additional Fillings

  • 6 slices deli turkey meat (106g)
  • 1 cup spinach (40g)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, shredded cheddar cheese, grated carrots, and plain yogurt. Mix thoroughly until a smooth, spreadable mixture forms.
  2. Spread the Filling on Tortillas: Divide the cream cheese mixture evenly, placing half in the center of each tortilla. Using a knife, spread the mixture evenly across the tortilla surface, leaving about an inch clear around the edges to help with rolling.
  3. Add Turkey and Spinach: Place ½ cup of fresh spinach and 3 slices of deli turkey on top of the cream cheese mixture on each tortilla, distributing evenly.
  4. Roll and Slice: Carefully and tightly roll each tortilla from one edge to the other, ensuring the fillings stay contained. Using a sharp knife, slice each rolled tortilla into 6 smaller, bite-sized pieces.
  5. Chill for Best Results: For optimal texture and to help the roll ups hold together, wrap each roll tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. This step is optional if you prefer to eat immediately, but chilling improves firmness.

Notes

  • Chilling the roll ups helps the cream cheese filling set, making them easier to slice and eat.
  • You can substitute deli turkey with chicken or ham for variety.
  • Add herbs like dill or chives to the cream cheese mixture to enhance flavor.
  • These roll ups can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
