Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter (slightly softened)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 & 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Add-ins

  • 2/3 cup Valentine's Day M&M's
  • 7 Oreo cookies (roughly chopped, regular stuffed, not double stuffed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or a silpat to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a medium bowl, use a spatula to cream together the slightly softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and slightly fluffy.
  3. Add egg and vanilla: Mix in the egg and vanilla extract thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated and the batter is smooth.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: Gradually add the flour, corn starch, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture. Stir gently just until the mixture comes together; avoid overmixing to keep cookies tender.
  5. Fold in candies: Carefully fold in the Valentine's Day M&M's and roughly chopped Oreo pieces to evenly distribute the add-ins throughout the dough.
  6. Form cookies: Using a large cookie scooper (about 1/4 cup or 4 tablespoons), scoop out the dough to form 10 equally sized cookies. Place them spaced apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 13 minutes. The centers may look underdone or gooey, which is desired as they will continue baking slightly once removed.
  8. Shape cookies: Immediately after removing from the oven, use a larger cookie cutter or spatula to gently swish the cookies around to create perfectly round shapes.
  9. Cool: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes to set, then transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Be careful not to overmix the dough after adding the flour to maintain softness.
  • Do not use double-stuffed Oreos; regular stuffed Oreos give the best texture.
  • The cookies will appear slightly underbaked when removed but will set perfectly upon cooling.
  • Using a cookie scooper ensures even-sized cookies and consistent baking.
  • Store cooled cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to 3 days.
